Hold a phone light against the shade. Real alabaster glows unevenly — cloudy drifts, mineral veins that wander and stop, no repeats anywhere. Resin glows evenly; and if the “veining” repeats across two panels, a printer made it.
2The temperature test
Stone holds cold. Rest a palm on an unlit panel: real alabaster reads cooler than the room for a few seconds. Resin matches room temperature almost instantly.
3The weight test
A genuine alabaster shade the size of a dinner plate weighs like stone — because it is. A large fixture that lifts suspiciously easily deserves questions.
