Molten glass is gathered on a pipe and inflated by a person, not a machine. Air folded into the gather during shaping stays there forever as seed bubbles. Machine-pressed glass is degassed and uniform — flawless, and featureless.
Principle 2 — Texture Is a Tool Mark
Diamond and honeycomb textures are pressed into hot glass with hand tools, petal by petal. Depth varies slightly with every press — and that variance is what makes the surface glitter irregularly instead of reflecting like plastic.

Hand-blown walls are thicker where the maker steadied the form — typically at the lip and base. Run a finger around a petal’s edge: a subtle thickness gradient is human; dead-even walls are extruded.
