The craftsmanshipThe Art Glass DifferenceWhy hand-cast art glass beats molded glass & resin, the many shapes our artisans create, and how to spot the real thing. ▦ Material comparison ✦ One craft, many shapes 🔍 Spot genuine glass Open
Hand-cast art glass vs. molded glass vs. resin
Three materials look similar in a thumbnail — but live very differently on your wall. Here's how our hand-cast art glass compares.
| Our Hand-Cast Art Glass | Molded / Pressed Glass | Resin / Acrylic Imitation | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How it's made | Hand-cast & shaped by artisans, one piece at a time | Machine-pressed in a fixed mold, mass-produced | Liquid resin poured into a mold, mass-produced |
| Texture & pattern | Unique crackle texture — no two tubes alike | Identical, repeating pattern on every unit | Flat, "printed-on" look; texture feels superficial |
| Light quality | Deep, layered glow; light refracts through real glass | Even but flat; little depth or movement | Dull, slightly cloudy; can look plasticky when lit |
| Feel & weight | Substantial, cool, solid in the hand | Solid but uniform | Noticeably light, warm, hollow-feeling |
| Color over time | Color is in the glass — won't fade or yellow | Stable color | Can yellow or cloud with heat & UV over time |
| Heat tolerance | High — glass handles bulb heat well | High | Lower — can warp or discolor near heat |
| Character | A one-of-a-kind work of glass art | A functional, uniform fixture | A budget look-alike |
The takeaway: hand-cast art glass costs more to make, but it's the only one that gives you genuine depth of light, individual character, and lasting color — the qualities that make a fixture feel like art rather than hardware.
One craft, many shapes
Every piece begins the same way — molten glass, hand-cast and shaped by our artisans. From that single craft comes a whole family of forms, each catching and releasing light in its own way.

How to spot genuine art glass
Online photos can make resin and glass look alike. Here's how to tell the difference once it's in your home — every point below describes our fixtures.
Pick it up
Real glass is cool and substantial. Resin feels warm, light, and hollow. Our tubes have real weight — many customers say the heavy box was their first clue it's genuine.
Look at the texture
Hand-cast crackle texture has true depth you can feel with a fingertip. Resin texture looks like it's printed on a flat surface.
Turn on the light
Glass refracts light into a layered, moving glow. Resin tends to look flat, dull, or slightly cloudy when lit.
Compare two pieces
No two hand-cast tubes are exactly identical. If every piece looks machine-perfect and matched, it's molded — not artisan glass.
Our promise: every fixture is genuine hand-cast art glass. Slight variation between pieces isn't a flaw — it's proof it was made by hand.

Glowing glass, and not one visible bulb.
This Solene Four-Tier Glass Tube Chandelier features a nickel and gold frame and is composed of four tiers of white textured glass tubes arranged in a cascading, stepped formation. The dense white glass used in this lamp completely obscures the bulb—no matter where you sit, all you see is softly glowing glass, rather than a glaring filament.
The lamps sit in the top tier, and each row passes light down to the next. The bottom tier hangs below the light source and is lit from above, so the base glows instead of tapering into a dark point the way most tiered chandeliers do.Use a 2700K warm white bulb. That is what keeps white glass reading as soft rather than clinical — a daylight bulb will undo it.
-
1
White Glass Hides What Clear Glass ShowsClear glass sparkles — and shows you the bulb. That is a fair trade in an entry you walk through, and a poor one over a table you sit at for three hours. White glass gives up the sparkle and takes away the filament. Nothing on this fixture is bright to look at from any seat.
-
2
Four Tiers, and the Bottom One Is Lit From AboveThe top tier holds the lamps, screened on every side. The middle rows pass light downward, each picking up what the row above releases. And the lowest tier hangs entirely beneath the light source — lit from above, which is why the base glows rather than trailing off into a dark point the way most tiered fixtures do.
-
3
It Adds No Colour to the RoomAn amber or coloured fixture decides the temperature of everything under it. This one does not — it brings light without a tint, so it sits with whatever is already in the room: wood, brass, marble, a wall of books. Useful when the room is already doing the talking.
-
4
Every Tube on Its Own HookNothing is set into a moulded panel. Each tube hangs independently, which is why one chipped tube is unhooked and replaced on its own rather than a three-foot chandelier going back by freight for the sake of one piece of glass.
Dimensions & Placement

-
Over a Round Dining TableWhere it belongs first, and the room it was sized for. At 33.5″ across it suits a round table of roughly 60–78″ (150–200 cm) — a chandelier should read as clearly narrower than the tabletop. Hang the lowest tube 30–36″ (75–90 cm) above the surface.
-
Entryway or Foyer — With HeightNearly three feet of body before any chain, so this wants a 9 ft ceiling or more in an entry. In a double-height foyer it is comfortably in its element. On a standard 8 ft ceiling it will fit over a table but feel large in an open hallway.
-
Living Room or Hotel LobbyBecause it introduces no colour, it works in a room that already has plenty — artwork, rugs, a wall of books. Keep the lowest tube at least 7 ft (2.1 m) off the floor anywhere people walk beneath it.
-
Where It Must Not GoRated IP20 — no protection against water. Not for a bathroom, above a bath or shower, in a laundry, or on a covered porch. Those need a damp- or wet-rated fixture. And not in a small bedroom: at nearly three feet tall it will dominate the room rather than sit in it.

What Makes It Special
White fixtures have a reputation for looking cold, and it is deserved — when the glass is smooth and the bulb is wrong. Neither applies here, and both are worth understanding before you choose. Smooth white glass presents one uninterrupted plane, which is why it reads as a bathroom fitting; a ribbed surface breaks into hundreds of small highlights and shadows instead, so the eye reads texture rather than a flat sheet. The bulb does the rest: at 2700K the glass takes the warmth on and holds it, closer to unglazed ceramic or plaster than to anything clinical. Fit a 4000K lamp and none of that survives — which is why the recommendation is in the spec table rather than buried further down.
Most tiered chandeliers put the lamps in the middle and taper away into a dark point at the bottom — which, on a fixture you look up at from a dining chair, is exactly the part you see most. This one is arranged the other way round. The top tier holds the light sources, screened on every side so nothing is visible from below. Each middle row catches what the row above releases and passes it further down. And the lowest tier hangs entirely beneath the lamps, lit from above like a lampshade seen from outside — which is why the base of this chandelier glows rather than sitting in shadow, and why the whole thing reads as one continuous cone of light instead of a bright band with a dark tail.
Diameter, height, finish, the number of lights, the length of chain — all of it can be changed before the piece is made. That matters on a fixture this size: at 33.5″ across and 35.4″ tall, this suits a 60–78″ round table under a 9 ft ceiling, and someone with a smaller room or a lower ceiling would otherwise have to buy the wrong scale or buy elsewhere. Tell us the room and we will build to it. It is also why the glass is hung tube by tube rather than moulded into panels — a fixture assembled from individual pieces can be made in any configuration, and a single damaged tube can be replaced without the chandelier leaving the ceiling.
A Photograph, Not a Render
Most lighting online is sold on computer renders — perfectly even colour, perfectly clean edges, no dust and no reflections. This is the actual glass, shot under an actual lamp.
Colour on a screen is a guide, not a match. Every batch of coloured glass varies slightly, and the bulb you fit changes it again.
Hanging Height
Every fixture ships with a 150 cm / 59″ chain, shortened at installation by removing links — so the drop is set in your room, not at our factory.
Please contact us if you require a longer length.
Raked or Vaulted Ceilings
Standard canopies are flat, so a specific style is required for sloped ceilings. Please contact us if you need a model designed for sloped ceiling installation.

Glowing Glass, Not a Single Bulb
White glass gives up the sparkle and takes away the filament.
Clear glass sparkles, and it also shows you the bulb. Over an entrance hall that is a fair trade — you walk through, you glance up, you are gone. Over a table you sit at for three hours it is a different calculation entirely, and the answer usually goes the other way.
These tubes are white and textured: dense enough that the lamps inside vanish completely, ribbed so the surface never flattens into one white plane. From any chair at the table you see glowing glass rather than filaments. It is the softest light a fixture of this size can give, and the softness is the entire point of choosing white over clear.
The four tiers do the rest. The top row holds the lamps, screened on every side. Each row below catches what the one above releases and passes it further down. And the lowest tier hangs beneath the light source altogether — lit from above, which is why the base of this chandelier glows instead of tapering into the dark point most tiered fixtures end in. Look up from a dining chair and you see one continuous cone of light.
One thing decides whether all of that works: the bulb. White fixtures earn their reputation for looking clinical when a cool lamp is put behind them. At 2700K the glass takes the warmth on and holds it — closer to unglazed ceramic than to anything that belongs in a bathroom. At 4000K, none of it survives.
The Long Dinner
Three hours at a table, and nothing overhead to squint at. No filament visible from any seat, from any angle.
The Room at Noon
Adding no colour of its own, it takes the light already in the room. In daylight it reads as ribbed white stone rather than a fixture waiting for the switch.
After Everyone Has Eaten
Put it on a dimmer and the four tiers drop to a low glow — enough to keep the table lit, not enough to suggest the evening is over.
Bright enough to eat under — never bright enough to look away from.
Before You Order
The size, the bulb, and what four tiers of white glass actually do.
01Is it too big for my room?
Check this first. At 33.5″ across and 35.4″ tall, this is nearly three feet of fixture before you add any chain.
Over a dining table: it suits a round table of roughly 60–78″. On a standard 8 ft ceiling it fits — 30″ of clearance above the table plus the body leaves about 30″ for chain and canopy — but it will read as a large piece in an average room. On a 9–10 ft ceiling it is comfortable.
Smaller room or lower ceiling? We can build it to a different size — tell us before you order.
02Will it look cold or clinical?
Not if the bulb is right, and this is the one thing that can ruin it. Use 2700K warm white. A 4000K or daylight lamp makes any white glass look like a bathroom fitting.
At 2700K the glass takes the warmth on and holds it, and the ribbed texture breaks the surface into hundreds of small highlights rather than one flat white plane. It reads closer to unglazed ceramic than to anything clinical.
03Will I see the bulbs?
04White or clear glass — which should I choose?
05Why is the bottom tier lit?
06Is it bright enough for a dining room?
For eating and talking under, yes — and it dims well. But white glass gives a soft even glow rather than a bright pool; that is what you are buying.
If the table is also where people work or read, plan a second light source alongside it.
07What bulbs does it take?
08How high do I hang it?
09Will my ceiling take the weight?
10How do I clean it? What if a tube breaks?
Cleaning: power off, let the bulbs cool, then a soft dry brush down the tubes rather than wiping each one. White textured glass hides dust well — twice a year is enough. No ammonia sprays.
If one breaks: every tube hangs on its own hook and is replaced alone. Photos within 24 hours if damaged in transit; spares held after that.
11Can I change the size or the number of lights?
12Where can't it go?
Two Guides, Written for This
Most installation questions come up twice — once when you are deciding where a light goes, and again when it is in your hands. We wrote one guide for each.
Installation Scenario Guide
Which room, which size, and how high. Read this before you order, while the choice is still open and nothing has been drilled.
- How high to hang over a table, an island, a stairwell
- Matching fixture size to room size and table width
- Clearance in walkways, and what a low ceiling changes
- Where a fixture should not go at all
Installation Process Guide
The fitting itself, step by step. Read this when the box arrives — ideally before you open it.
- Unpacking glass safely, and what to check on arrival
- Junction box weight, support, and when to add a brace
- Wiring, canopy fitting, and setting the chain length
- Why two people make almost every fixture easier
The Same White Glass, Lower Down
A chandelier lights the table. One of these carries the same tube to the wall beside it. The other changes the subject entirely.

Solene Four-Tier Glass Tube Chandelier
Ceiling · Textured White GlassFour descending tiers, ∅ 33.5″ × H 35.4″. White glass dense enough to hide every lamp — glowing glass from any seat, no filaments.
This one covers the table people sit at.

Textured Art Glass Tubular Wall Lamp
Wall · Textured White GlassThe same tube and the same white glass, brought down to eye level. It stops a dining room reading as one bright object and four dark walls — which is what a chandelier alone always does.
Choose this if the room has a wall worth lighting, or somewhere with no ceiling box. Most people take a pair.

Blonski Statue Floor Lamp
Floor · SculpturalA change of subject. Everything above is geometry — tubes, tiers, repetition. This is a figure, which is why it sits beside them as a contrast rather than a repeat. It is also the only one of the three that needs no electrician: it plugs in.
Choose this if you are furnishing a corner rather than lighting a table — or renting, and cannot touch the ceiling.
